Had an awesome day today, started out with some "competetive" sprinting for a several hours this morning, which was followed by s211 (portabel pumps) training. At around 12:40 while we were up at big rock creek practicing, we got a call to respond to a brush fire over by soledad. we arrived to find 1 other crew (bear divide), several engines, 2 water tenders and a helicopter already on scene. as we got out of our crew buggies, we could see the flames running up the steep embankment of the mountain. The I.C. gave us our assingment and off we went. we hike to the top of the ridge, decided that our escape routes and safety zones would be back to the buggies if we could get to them, if not then into the clean black or find any way you could to get under neath the fire, we then split mods and A mod anchored in and began cutting line where they were at, while we (B mod) bumped farther up the ridge and began cutting a new section of line. after many hours of cutting line, we were able to line the fire and put it out. once the flames were gone, we proceded with mopping up (searching the whole area burned and putting out anything still hot). once we finished mopping up we began pulling out all the hose. in the process we were responded to another fire on the 5 corridor by templan, so we got down the hill, and back to our crew buggies as fast as we could, only to be canceled as we were loading up. we were released from the soledad fire to go back the the station at 1830. today was a good work out!
